The Bottom Line

The Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W is a monitor that stands out for its exceptional panel quality, making it a highly recommended choice for discerning gamers and professionals. What we found particularly impressive is its Tandem OLED technology, which offers a native 540Hz refresh rate at 1440p, with the ability to boost to 720Hz at 720p resolution. This feature, noted by techspot.com, positions it as the first 720Hz OLED monitor, an impressive feat that caters to enthusiasts looking for extreme performance. Furthermore, its TrueBlack Glossy coating, as mentioned by rtings.com, enhances image clarity, although it does come with the need for careful positioning to minimize reflections, a common trait among glossy screens. The high-bandwidth DisplayPort UHBR20 is a boon for users with capable GPUs, enhancing the overall performance of this monitor.

Performance Breakdown

In-Depth Analysis

Refresh Rate Performance 96

Strong consensus · 23 sources

540Hz native at 1440p is the fastest OLED panel available, and 14 of 23 sources agree it's purpose-built for competitive esports. The 720Hz dual-mode exists, but 720p on a 27-inch screen is a real trade-off.

Key Takeaway

If you play competitive shooters at the highest level and have the GPU to match, this is the panel. If you game casually or at 1080p, the refresh rate is wasted money.

In-Depth Analysis

Refresh Rate Performance

Strong consensus · 23 sources
96 / 100

The headline number is 540Hz at QHD, which TFTCentral calls the fastest OLED panel available. The 720Hz mode is real, but it drops to 1280x720, and both noobfeed and Hardwareluxx flag that resolution as impractical on a 27-inch panel. No display modes exist between 270Hz and 540Hz, which techspot notes as a gap. You also need a serious GPU to sustain frame rates at native resolution, a point four sources raise independently. For competitive CS2 or Valorant players, this is the ceiling. For everyone else, the ceiling is overkill.

Where Reviewers Disagree

The 720Hz mode sounds impressive on paper, but two sources independently call 720p resolution impractical on a 27-inch screen, making it a spec that exists more for marketing than real-world use.

OLED Panel Quality 94

Strong consensus · 18 sources

Near-universal praise for color accuracy and black levels across 18 sources, with one notable caveat: QD-OLED panels deliver more color saturation, and 1440p shows its limits for desktop productivity.

Key Takeaway

If you want OLED black levels with above-average brightness and factory-calibrated color, this delivers. If maximum color saturation is the goal, QD-OLED alternatives are worth comparing.

In-Depth Analysis

OLED Panel Quality

Strong consensus · 18 sources
94 / 100

The Tandem OLED structure is the story here. It improves peak brightness and panel longevity over standard WOLED, and the 99.5% DCI-P3 coverage with a factory calibration report in the box makes this credible for color-critical work. The RGWB subpixel layout is a genuine improvement for text over older WOLEDs, though techspot and noobfeed both note shadowing at smaller font sizes persists. RTINGS flags that colors are less vivid than QD-OLED competition, which matters if saturation is your priority. For black levels and OLED longevity, this wins. For pure color pop, QD-OLED still has an edge.

Where Reviewers Disagree

RTINGS notes colors are less vivid than QD-OLED panels, while Pcworld and noobfeed recommend it for color-critical work. The panel is accurate, but it is not the most saturated option at this price.

Ergonomics & Build 93

Strong consensus · 13 sources

Six sources confirm full ergonomic adjustability including height, tilt, swivel, and pivot. The transparent shell has flex at the top edge, and the stand footprint is large enough to warrant measuring your desk first.

Key Takeaway

Ergonomics are solid for most users, but measure your desk before buying and consider a monitor arm if the stand footprint is a concern. Taller users may find the height range limiting.

In-Depth Analysis

Ergonomics & Build

Strong consensus · 13 sources
93 / 100

The adjustment range is comprehensive and the hollow tripod stand design keeps weight down without sacrificing stability, a detail Techporn specifically calls out. The integrated 1/4-inch tripod socket for camera or ring light accessories is an unusual and practical addition noted by both Techporn and Pcworld. Pcworld flags the 110mm height adjustment as falling short of the 130-150mm ideal, which matters for taller users. Techspot notes flex along the top edge of the transparent shell, a minor build quality concern on a $1,100 monitor. Two sources recommend a monitor arm to avoid stand leg interference with desk space, which is worth considering before purchase.

Where Reviewers Disagree

The stand is well-designed overall, but Pcworld's note that 110mm height adjustment falls short of the 130-150mm ideal, combined with the large footprint flagged by two sources, means desk setup requires more planning than the premium price suggests.

Burn-In Protection 93

Strong consensus · 8 sources

Five of 8 sources call the OLED Care Pro suite and Neo Proximity Sensor genuinely comprehensive, and the 3-year burn-in warranty backs it up. Residual risk exists, but Asus has done more than most.

Key Takeaway

The burn-in protection suite is among the most complete available on a gaming OLED, and the 3-year warranty makes it a lower-risk long-term investment than most competitors.

In-Depth Analysis

Burn-In Protection

Strong consensus · 8 sources
93 / 100

The combination of OLED Care Pro, a proximity sensor that dims the panel when you step away, and a dedicated heatsink addresses the main long-term OLED concerns more directly than competing monitors. The 3-year warranty covering burn-in specifically, noted by noobfeed, is a meaningful differentiator at this price. Nationalpc still flags residual burn-in risk as a real consideration, which is fair for any OLED used with static UI elements. The Tandem OLED structure itself helps, with Gameit ES noting it addresses brightness and burn-in concerns inherent to traditional OLED. Enable all care features if you are mixing work and gaming use.

HDR & Brightness 92

Strong consensus · 16 sources

1,500 nit peak HDR brightness from a Tandem OLED is exceptional for the category, and 5 sources confirm it holds up in practice. Sustained brightness tells a more complicated story.

Key Takeaway

For HDR gaming in a controlled environment, this is one of the better OLED options available. If you need consistent brightness across full-screen bright content, manage expectations around the sustained figures.

In-Depth Analysis

HDR & Brightness

Strong consensus · 16 sources
92 / 100

The 1,500 nit peak figure is consistent across TFTCentral, Hardwareinside, and Pcgameshardware, and Computerbase measured 1,490 cd/m² at 1% white, which aligns. The gap is in sustained brightness: Computerbase clocks standard mode HDR at 630 cd/m², and notes brightness swings significantly with white content percentage. The DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification is legitimate given the OLED black floor, and the combination of true blacks with high peak brightness makes HDR gaming genuinely impressive. For a well-lit room, BadSeed Tech confirms it holds up. Just know the 1,500 nit figure is a peak, not a sustained number.

Where Reviewers Disagree

The 1,500 nit peak is real, but Computerbase's measurements show standard HDR mode sits at 630 cd/m² and fluctuates heavily with scene content, a gap the headline spec does not communicate.

Design & Aesthetics 89

Strong consensus · 14 sources

The silver and translucent white design with RGB projection stand is genuinely distinctive, and 5 sources single it out as a reason to buy. The price and missing speakers are the friction points.

Key Takeaway

If aesthetics matter to your setup and you run a white or silver desk theme, this is one of the most distinctive monitors available. If you need speakers or 4K resolution at this price, the value case weakens.

In-Depth Analysis

Design & Aesthetics

Strong consensus · 14 sources
89 / 100

This is not a generic black rectangle. The transparent rear housing with visible PCB cutout, silver colorway, and desk logo projection are details that techspot, TFTCentral, and Pcworld all call out specifically. It is clearly designed for white or light-themed setups, and SpawnPoiint confirms it lands well in that context. The internal power supply eliminating an external brick is a practical win. The weaknesses are real though: no built-in speakers at $1,099 is a notable omission flagged by three sources, and Pcworld points out that 1440p resolution at that price is a hard sell against 4K alternatives. The menu font readability is a minor but recurring complaint.

Where Reviewers Disagree

The design is widely praised, but three sources flag the absence of built-in speakers as a meaningful omission at over $1,000, and Pcworld questions whether 1440p justifies the price against 4K competition.

Connectivity & Ports 85

Strong consensus · 15 sources

DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 and dual HDMI 2.1 cover the high-end PC and console bases well. The missing USB-C is a real gap, flagged by 4 sources, and it rules this out for laptop users.

Key Takeaway

For a dedicated desktop gaming rig or PS5 Pro setup, the connectivity is excellent. If you need USB-C for a laptop or want a KVM switch, look elsewhere.

In-Depth Analysis

Connectivity & Ports

Strong consensus · 15 sources
85 / 100

The DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 connection is what makes uncompressed 1440p at 540Hz possible, and it provides genuine future-proofing headroom. Console support is solid: techspot, noobfeed, and Monitors Unboxed all confirm 4K 120Hz HDMI downscaling works cleanly with PS5 Pro. The USB-C omission is the story though. Four sources including RTINGS, techspot, and Computerbase flag it, and Computerbase explicitly recommends against this monitor for notebook users. No KVM switch either. DSC compression is required for 540Hz on all connection types, which techspot notes, though a 270Hz UHBR13.5 mode avoids it if that matters to you.

Where Reviewers Disagree

DisplayPort 2.1a future-proofs the high-end PC use case convincingly, but the complete absence of USB-C, flagged by 4 sources, makes this a poor fit for anyone with a modern laptop in their workflow.

Glossy Coating & Reflections 82

Divided consensus · 9 sources

The TrueBlack Glossy coating sharpens perceived contrast and image clarity, but 4 sources agree it creates mirror-like reflections under direct light. Room setup determines whether this is a feature or a problem.

Key Takeaway

If your room lighting is controllable, the glossy coating delivers a noticeably cleaner image than matte alternatives. If you have windows or overhead lights you cannot manage, the reflections will frustrate you daily.

In-Depth Analysis

Glossy Coating & Reflections

Divided consensus · 9 sources
82 / 100

The glossy coating is a deliberate trade-off, not an oversight. It eliminates the haze that matte coatings introduce, which noobfeed describes as completely killing blooming. TFTCentral confirms it enhances perceived contrast, and RTINGS Computer notes it suits users who prioritize image clarity over reflection resistance. The flip side is real: four sources including RTINGS and Hardwareluxx flag mirror-like reflections under direct light, and Techporn warns careful positioning near light sources is necessary. This is not a monitor for a desk facing a window. In a controlled environment, the image quality payoff is genuine.

Where Reviewers Disagree

The same coating that eliminates haze and sharpens blacks creates mirror-like reflections under direct light, and reviewers split on whether the image quality gain is worth the positioning constraints.

Our Verdict

For competitive FPS players and design-forward buyers, the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W is a dream come true, offering a unique transparent aesthetic and performance that exceeds expectations. However, those on a tighter budget or requiring features like built-in speakers may find this monitor less suitable. Its 1440p resolution, while excellent for gaming, might lack the sharpness needed for certain desktop productivity tasks, making it less ideal for that specific use case.

Monitor was everything I’d hoped for.

PG27AQWP-W or PG32UCDM?

RaiiderNovemberRaiiderNovember June 7, 2026
ASUS PG27AQWP-W Review: A 1440p Gaming Beast with Insane SpeedI recently picked up the ASUS PG27AQWP-W as my secondary monitor alongside a PG32UCDM-4K 240Hz QD-OLED, and it has quickly become my favorite for competitive gaming. This 27-inch WOLED panel runs at 1440p with a blistering 540Hz refresh rate, and it absolutely delivers where it counts.Picture QualityThe image quality at 1440p is genuinely great. Colors are vibrant and accurate out of the box, blacks are perfect (true OLED advantage), and motion clarity is exceptional. Text is sharp for productivity work, and games look detailed and immersive without any noticeable pixelation on a desk setup. I was worried about stepping “down” from 4K, but honestly, the difference in everyday image quality is minimal. A 32-inch 4K monitor at 240Hz doesn’t make much of a difference in perceived sharpness or detail for most content—especially once you’re sitting at a normal viewing distance. The PG27AQWP-W holds its own beautifully. The Real Star: 540Hz PerformanceWhere this monitor shines is the refresh rate. The PG27 at 540Hz is amazing. Everything feels buttery smooth—mouse movements, camera pans, and fast action all look incredibly fluid. In competitive titles like The Finals, Marvel Rivals, Warzone, or Apex, the difference over 240Hz is immediately noticeable and gives a real edge in tracking and reaction times. Paired with high polling rate peripherals, it’s a game-changer. I cap FPS around 533Hz for stability and it still feels next-level.The WOLED panel handles variable refresh rates flawlessly with zero tearing, and features like pixel cleaning are easy to manage. Build quality is solid, the stand is great, and the white aesthetic fits my setup perfectly.Final VerdictIf you’re into competitive gaming, the ASUS PG27AQWP-W is an outstanding choice. The 1440p picture quality is great, the jump to 4K 240Hz isn’t as transformative as you might think for image fidelity, but that 540Hz experience is pure bliss. Highly recommended—it’s transformed my daily gaming sessions. 9.5/10.

Wish it was brighter.

Elite_Aztec 2026-05-19
Love this monitor. People say it’s bright but I don’t know, I’ve seen many videos and honestly it’s perfect but not too bright.

Noticeable grey banding and My speakers for my monitor are much quieter now

TREY TELLEZ 2026-05-20
Just got it but so far my monitor speakers are much quieter on this thing. Can’t figure out why. Additionally, the grey banding is some of the worst I’ve seen on a monitor. For 1000$+ this is crazy.

Very nice monitor. Easy set up. Great picture. My husband loves it! But it dies randomly shut off and we haven’t quite figured out why yet…

Is it WORTH IT?

Yuki 2026-04-14
Couldn’t tell much of a difference at first bc I switched from a Asus 32’ to this and thought other than the blacks everything else looks the same…. That was until I got used to the 27 again…. The colors are so vibrant! Worth the buy if you are trying to future proof for a 4+ years

Weeks of Waiting Only to get a Defective Panel

Eagle Scout 2013 2026-03-05
TL;DR - The monitor I was sent From/By Amazon(NOT 3rd Party) had a defective panel. Also for an $1100 product the packing material was really subpar. They only gave me the option to return and did not offer a replacement. Weeks of waiting wasted.I ordered this monitor back in February and waited several weeks for it to finally ship and arrive to me. The first thing I was put off by was the packing material Asus used for this monitor. I was expecting some nice fitted Styrofoam but instead everything is placed in hard cardboard with the screen only having a thin piece of Styrofoam between it and the cardboard. For a $1100+ I really expected better as I have had cheap HP business monitors come better packed and actually in fitted styrofoam. Packing aside, once it got it out and set up on my desk was were the real issues began. Upon turning on I was greeted with a bunch of grey lines that slowly faded to nothing. Power cycling just resulted in the same thing happening . I did try changing out the power cable with a spare, different HDMI/DP cables, and connecting to a different computer but no change. At that point I thought it was now a matter of return and get a replacement but nope! The only option I was given was a straight return. At least I will get my money back but I am really dang unhappy that I wasted several weeks waiting and instead of waiting a little longer for a replacement have to settle on a different monitor which I could of done anyway. While I just may have been unlucky I do think my experience it worth considering if you are looking at this monitor. Especially if there are only 3rd party options available as their return process is usually a bit more difficult.

The PG27AQWP-W represents a flagship tier of 4th-gen W OLED panels, pushing refresh rates to 540Hz at 1440p or an unprecedented 720Hz at 720p through dual-mode operation. At $1,000 MSRP, it targets deep-pocketed enthusiasts rather than mainstream buyers. The distinctive silver and transparent housing design reveals internal components through a secondary housing with visible PCB sections, though this comes with slightly reduced structural rigidity along the top edge. DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification and true black glossy coating carry over from lower-tier 280Hz models. Port selection includes cutting-edge DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 and dual HDMI 2.1 48Gbps connections, yet omits USB-C and KVM functionality. DSC remains mandatory for full 540Hz operation despite the premium connectivity. The OSD maintains ASUS's current comprehensive feature set for OLED gaming monitors.

  • Best suited for competitive esports seeking maximum motion clarity
  • 720Hz mode viable only for low-resolution competitive titles
  • Console gamers benefit from 4K 120Hz HDMI downscaling
  • Design-forward buyers will appreciate unique transparent aesthetic
  • Professional workflows needing USB-C should look elsewhere

This 27-inch monitor features a distinctive silver retro-futuristic design with transparent rear panel sections and stylized internals. It offers dual resolution modes: 1440p at 540Hz or 720p at 720Hz, targeting competitive gamers. The PG-style stand includes lighting with downward projection and full vertical rotation, though the elevated legs may interfere with mouse pads. Uniquely among ASUS OLED panels, it lacks an external power brick. The Tandem OLED panel achieves 340 nits peak full-screen SDR brightness—a 28% increase over previous OLEDs—making ELMB viable. Color coverage reaches 99% DCI-P3. An included puck facilitates monitor arm mounting.

  • Ideal for competitive esports players needing extreme refresh rates
  • Sufficient brightness for well-lit rooms and ELMB usage
  • Strong color accuracy suits content creation workflows
  • Consider monitor arm to avoid stand leg interference
  • Viable alternative to QD-OLED for color-critical work

The PG27AQWP-W stands out for its exceptional aesthetic design, featuring silver bezels that appear less distracting in person than in photos, and a translucent back panel reminiscent of devices like the Game Boy Advance. Its True Black Glossy display produces remarkably crisp image quality that approaches 4K clarity on a 1440p panel, with pixels appearing almost lifelike and three-dimensional. However, the spider-like stand design is considered a weakness compared to flat-base alternatives. The monitor excels at creating immersive visuals where textures and details seem to come off the screen, particularly noticeable in content featuring water or detailed wallpapers.

  • Ideal for gamers prioritizing visual immersion over competitive ergonomics
  • Best suited for those who value monitor aesthetics on their desk
  • Excellent choice for 1440p users wanting near-4K perceived clarity
  • Recommended for content with detailed textures and water visuals
  • Consider aftermarket stand if desk space flexibility matters

  • Best suited for users prioritizing black levels over color saturation
  • Excellent for Doom Eternal and fast-paced single-player titles
  • Viable alternative to 4K for previously resolution-focused enthusiasts

At $1,099.99, this 27-inch 1440p 540Hz OLED monitor delivers exceptional gaming performance with near-instantaneous pixel response and class-leading motion clarity. Total system latency reaches as low as 22ms in 720Hz mode, while 540Hz operation produces nearly crystal-clear motion even during fast movement. HDR brightness exceeds previous OLED generations, creating all-around picture quality that surpasses earlier displays. The panel includes ELMB for effective 270Hz operation with 540Hz-equivalent clarity, though this introduces brightness reduction and ~10ms latency penalty. A 720Hz mode exists at 720p resolution, but the reviewer finds it impractical for actual use. The three-year warranty covers burn-in, with 24 months of bright dot and dark dot protection included.

  • Ideal for competitive esports players prioritizing motion clarity above all else
  • Content creators streaming to small audiences benefit from low latency
  • HDR gaming enthusiasts gain from improved brightness over prior OLEDs
  • ELMB suits GPU-limited systems needing high perceived refresh rates
  • 720Hz mode impractical; 540Hz native remains optimal for most users

Wasabi The reviewer switched from ZOWIE esports TN panels to the ROG Swift …

The reviewer switched from ZOWIE esports TN panels to the ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W WOLED display and found motion clarity surprisingly comparable to dedicated esports monitors. It delivers deeper blacks, richer colors, and more perceived depth without sacrificing responsiveness. Competitive FPS players may find the additional visual information creates more 'noise' compared to flatter TN panels, making targets slightly harder to identify quickly. At full MSRP, the monitor is considered very expensive with poor value given rapidly evolving monitor technology, though the reviewer purchased it below the price of ZOWIE's flagship 600Hz model. The design and back panel aesthetics were personally appreciated.

  • Ideal for competitive gamers wanting OLED visuals without sacrificing speed
  • Consider waiting for price drops or WOLED tech improvements
  • Best suited for players prioritizing visual immersion alongside competitiveness
  • May not suit pure esports players wanting minimal visual distraction
  • Verify your GPU can maintain high frame rates at native resolution

This monitor delivers an exceptional OLED experience with its 540Hz refresh rate and stunning true black glossy coating that performs remarkably well even in bright, naturally lit rooms. The reviewer considers it an endgame display despite some notable drawbacks. Gray banding exists but proved minimal on their unit and largely unnoticeable during normal use. The silver bezels and transparent back design polarize opinions, though the reviewer finds the aesthetic appealing. The much-hyped 720Hz mode disappoints due to excessive softness at 1280x720 resolution, making it impractical for competitive play. Transitioning from 24.5 inch to 27 inch required significant adjustment, but ultimately improved the reviewer's performance through better micro-corrections at 1440p.

  • Ideal for well-lit rooms due to excellent anti-reflective glossy coating
  • Skip 720Hz mode; 540Hz at native 1440p is the sweet spot
  • Competitive FPS players should prepare for adjustment period from smaller screens
  • Best suited for users insensitive to minor gray banding artifacts
  • Requires deliberate desk setup for optimal viewing comfort
