The Bottom Line

The Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a feature-packed mechanical gaming keyboard that stands out with its eight dedicated macro keys, plush wrist rest, and programmable multi-function 'Razer Command Dial'. This keyboard is ideal for gamers and professionals who value customization and enhanced functionality. While it offers a larger size that may require adjustment for some users, and its ABS keycaps may not be as durable in the long term, its key strengths make it a compelling choice for those seeking a high-performance keyboard.

Our Analysis

The Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a high-performance keyboard that sits comfortably in the premium segment, favored by gaming enthusiasts and those who appreciate robust, feature-packed peripherals. What we found particularly impressive is its typing feel, which is enhanced by the high build quality, a plush padded wrist rest, and the inclusion of eight dedicated macro keys for customization. The keyboard's brushed aluminum top, as noted by IGN, contributes to its sleek aesthetic, while the programmable multi-function 'Razer Command Dial' and an 8,000 Hz max polling rate cater to those who demand speed in their gaming sessions. Despite its strengths, the BlackWidow V4 Pro carries some reservations, such as its larger-than-average footprint, which may require an adjustment period for some users, and concerns about the durability of its ABS keycaps over time.

The Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a feature-rich keyboard designed for gaming enthusiasts, offering RGB lighting, macro keys, multimedia buttons, and a command dial. Its size is notably larger than average, with a deep design enhanced by a massive palm rest. The keyboard features Razer's linear or clicky switches, though the clicky ones were found to be uneven in sound quality. It lacks hot-swappable switches and tactile options, but includes lubricated stabilizers and sound-dampening foam. The BlackWidow V4 Pro's 8,000Hz polling rate provides an exceptionally fast and smooth gaming experience, and its RGB lighting is easily synced with other Razer peripherals.

Works flawlessly

Jenni & Josh April 16, 2024

The media could not be loaded.

I ordered this thing renewed. Totally worth it. Saved about $80usd. Everything works no problem. The keyboard itself is a little pricy but it is packed with tons of features. The software, Razr synapse, seems to be far better developed than most other software. There is a small learning curve. I was able to get everything set up fairly easily. Macros, lighting, etc. I paired the Black Widow v4 pro with a basilisk v3 pro and man they are stunning. I found that synapse can even control the argb on my motherboard and works way better than the native motherboard software does. So, win win for me.The response on this keyboard is insane and can be set to poll at 2000. I got the green switches. I love the clicky og feel of them. They are loud. I also have a black widow mini with the yellow switches. If you don’t want all the noise, get the yellow switches. They are much quieter. The pro version does have two wires. One for the keyboard itself and one for powering the rgb. There is also a usb pass through giving you a great place to plug in your mouse dongle to take advantage of light speed tech. Allot of people complain about the two wires, but I’ve noticed most high end wired keyboards with usb pass through and rgb seem to all have them. So, I fully anticipated this and accept it.So far, while this is not a high end keyboard snob keyboard, it is high end and awesome.

Refurbished is Always a Gamble

Morgan McDonald June 19, 2024
I didn’t even realized I had ordered a refurb at first, but I am never really turned off by the idea, because using less plastic as a planet is lit.Unfortunately, the unite arrived with a multitude of issues:-Backspace, H, / and ?, and F9 didn’t work at all. H and Backspace started to work occasionally before I returned the item-Pressing / and ? key would enable Caps Lock, but pressing it again doesn’t disable it.-The rotating encoder dial was not very rigid, and didn’t seem right.-The right Alt key and the Options key were swapped for functionality.Fabulous keyboard otherwise; I only ordered it because I didn’t think there was a white one out there, but after re-checking Razer’s website, they DO have one, so I decided to purchase new and in a color that matches my PC better.I still recommend purchasing refurbished devices when possible and comfortable doing so, as it can always be returned for a full refund, but this was my experience ordering this item.

a very fancy keyboard

C June 29, 2023
The shipping was a little weird… No outer box or anything - just stuck in a big padded envelope. So it arrived a little squished, but intact. The packaging for the keyboard seemed off, too. I’m more-used to glossy boxes with pretty pictures and lots of foam or cardboard filler to protect the device. This was just a plain brown box with the Razer logo on it.But, weirdness with packaging and shipping aside, the keyboard is pretty nice. I got the tactile switches, rather than the linear, so they’re nice and clicky. The RGB lighting is fun. Even the wrist-rest has lighting. I like that there’s a separate mute button, instead of integrating it into the volume scroll-wheel. And the extra macro buttons and knob are handy. What may not be obvious from the pictures is that there’s a couple additional buttons on the left edge of the keyboard. All things considered, I’m pretty happy with this purchase. It does what I need it to do.

THIS PRODUCT IS "REFURBISHED"

alex smashtin December 28, 2024
Firstly, this was, and still is not titled as refurbished. That in it’s self bothered me, but not enough to prompt a return. When the package arrived the box was seemingly torn into and then mended with scotch tape. All paperwork including instructions and warranty papers we’re missing and poorly packaged. This was troubling, but still not enough because my computer desperately needed a new keyboard (old one bricked). When I set up the keyboard I found out that the “D” key was unresponsive about 80% of the time. I took the key caps off, blasted it with air, drivers, the works, nothing. Now I’m furious. I’m pretty sure the keyboard wasn’t “refurbished” and was simply re-sold. This defect would have been instantly noticed if it was actually tested. I should have noticed that 21% of customers left 1 star reviews before I bought this. Now I’m stuck without a keyboard while I wait a month for a refund.update: I kinda hit it a few times and now it seems to work fine. Still kinda mad though. Sorry for yelling. I will return with another update in the future.

The Verdict

For those who value a keyboard with a rich feature set and a solid typing experience, the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a strong contender. However, if you're after a compact design or are cost-conscious, this keyboard may not be the best fit. Its high-end features and sturdy construction come at a premium, making it an ideal choice for users who are willing to invest in a durable and customizable keyboard for gaming and productivity.
