Why We Built This

You're researching a monitor. You read five reviews — two love it, one hates it, two are mixed. PCMag says 4.5 stars, RTINGS says 7.8 out of 10, a Reddit thread swears it's the worst purchase ever, and a YouTube reviewer calls it "the best budget 4K."

So what do you do? You spend hours cross-referencing, trying to separate noise from signal. We thought that process should be automated.

SetupScore was built to solve a specific frustration: the fragmentation of product intelligence. Every reviewer has their own scale, their own biases, their own audience. No single source gives you the full picture. We built a system that ingests all of them and finds where they agree, where they clash, and what actually matters for your use case.

Right now we cover monitors, keyboards, and headphones — the gear professionals and remote workers rely on every day. More categories are coming soon, including desks, webcams, and microphones.

How It Works

1

Discover Sources

For every product, we find 20–50 independent sources: expert reviews from RTINGS, PCMag, Tom's Hardware, YouTube teardowns, Reddit threads, and Amazon customer data across 6 markets.

2

Extract & Analyze

Each source is analyzed independently: sentiment, bias detection, rating normalization, and claim extraction. We identify specific strengths, weaknesses, and product claims per source.

3

Score & Verdict

We map consensus and disagreements across sources, then generate an algorithmic SetupScore out of 100 — backed by evidence, not editorial opinion. No pay-for-placement, no override.

The Team

SetupScore is an independent project built by two people — not a media conglomerate, not a venture-backed startup. We're a small team that believes product reviews should be transparent, data-driven, and free from editorial conflicts.

We built the entire pipeline — from source discovery to algorithmic scoring — ourselves. Every data point is traceable, every score is reproducible, and every recommendation links back to its original sources.
